Snow - Spring?

Well... I have something else to tell you about too... But I think I'll aim for the snow at the moment...

So... we had this day ... What more than a week ago. I think they called it: "Spring". They also say that you generally take your snow tires back off at Easter... It would be safe to say that had I done that I would not have made it down the road. Err... Actually back into the garage or out of the driveway at all...

So (yeah, I like that word) yesterday I noticed the forecast said we might get a couple inches of snow. Then as of the afternoon we had an winter weather advisory.

I snapped these pics for reference. You'll see before and after shots of my parking lot and our driveway. And one of the patio set, and a couple pretty ones of Main Street.

Now for the story so far...

Got up this morning and noticed the level of snow on the patio table. Went outside and shoveled it. It's the really wet/heavy stuff. Each shovel full probably weighs close to 50lbs. Got the walkway and path to the driveway cleared.
Backed the Prius out. Wasn't sure how it was going to handle the driveway... It started to move through, then spun. A bit of rocking and I got it out of the spot it was in. Contemplated for a minute and decided to head down the other side of the driveway that is less mushy. Luckily the plow hadn't been through yet so there wasn't a drift at the end of the driveway and I made it to the road. Followed someone else's ruts and just barely made it up over the hill.
Made it just outside of the first town and saw someone spun off the side of the road. I think they'd already walked to a nearby house (probably their own).

Continued on at a nice comfortable 35-40mph with just a bit of slipping. Passed about 2 cars. Headed down a section and JUST in time noticed that there was in fact a tree across the entire road. Had I not had the Blizzaks(snow tires) I would not have stopped in time. I stopped there and was pulling out my phone to call 911 and contemplate the next move when I saw someone coming up the other way. I flashed my lights a lot (he didn't seem to notice the tree yet). He came up on the other side and I got out and asked if he thought we could move it. We just barely managed to twist it off to the side mostly. Nicely about a minute before some idiot in a truck came right up and followed my butt the whole way in.
Got to work and noticed I had a nice section of dirt all across my coat where I was pushing the tree. Washed that off, then cleared out the front and back of the office of snow. Heard the sirens go off twice while I was out there. Also watched a pickup truck idling at the stoplight. He didn't need to use the brakes. I watched as his rear tire just slowly turned and he didn't move at all. He did somehow manage to get it moving again once the light changed though.

I think that's about it for now...

Perhaps I will tell you about the Furbies later today... (:

First party at our House - Mom's Bday

On the 15th we had our first party at the house! YAY! We celebrated Mom's Birthday and I think it all went quite well! Definitely a LOT more room for everyone at this house! (:

Sprague's

So Saturday we took a shorter (but longer time-wise) path to get to
Sara's parents. We stopped for lunch at Sprague's. We've been there
once before and quite liked it. It's a Maple Syrup type of place with
a really nice atmosphere. We didn't quite think about it being Easter
weekend though so it was rather busy with Breakfast with the Easter
Bunny and Easter Egg hunting going on. Still we were seated before
very long, and the food actually arrived quite quickly. I had another
YUMMY Belgian waffle. I believe Sara had some sort of bacon cheddar
burger. And we had some white chocolate macadamia/cheesecake thingy
for desert. Very yummy!
We actually even ran into one of my old co-worker's there. That was
quite a surprise since this place is kinda in the middle of nowhere,
like 60 miles away from our houses! (: All of the pics except for
the last one (which is lower quality) are from Sprague's.

And then after that we went to Dairy Queen (like the only one that
seems to be open in the winter for like 200 miles from us) and then on
to Sara's parents. After that it was about dinner time so we headed
off to Erie and ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings. Never been there.
Nice place except that it's a Sports bar so it was a bit overwhelming
with LOTS of noise and LOTS of TV's EVERYWHERE playing sports that
none of us are interested in. Still, it was good and yummy! And I
found some wifi and was trying to snap a pic with my n800 and publish
from there, but that still needs to be streamlined a bit. It was the
first time I had tried. Anyway I did manage to snap one pic of Sara
and I which should be the last one on here at noticeably less quality.
(:

Easter & Magorium

Oh let's see...
So this past weekend...
Oh there's more...  Hmm...
Well OK, let's just go with Sunday/Monday for the moment.
So Sunday we were at the Caflisch's and went to Lois's house for Easter.  Had a nice time with lots of yummy food as usual.  (:
Snapped only a couple pics when we took Shadow for a walk in the afternoon.

This one is something I noticed along the ditch.  It was weird.  Looked like inverted icicles.  After looking for a while, I think the ditch washes away some of the snow from underneath, icicles form, then they still exist after the snow above them melts so you end up with a bunch of free-standing icicles.  Kinda cool.  (:

And then I snapped one of Sara and Shadow.  (:

And then Monday we headed back home and that night we watched Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.
I LOVED this movie...  It was quite different.  But...  I guess the only way to really describe it is...  Child-like.  Imaginative...  Magic...  VERY COOL.  (:  I HIGHLY recommend it.  (:

Our Pet Deer

This one's back from the 8th. We had some deer (the first ones I've
really seen in our yard) right up in our front yard and I noticed that
the one who seems to be the leader has a nice pretty green collar on!
(: So we refer to these as our pet deer. (:

Ice

Yeah, I'm like way out of order with things, but sooner or later I'm going to catch up and get things the right way!!  (Maybe?)  (:

Anyway, here's a pic from the 6th when we had a nice icey day.

Nice day at the blood drive in Geneseo

On March 3rd I headed up to Geneseo to give blood. It was a nice(though slightly odd) day. I believe it was snowing the day before and after this day... Yet, notice the Prius says 68F degrees...(you'll probably need to click on the picture to be able to read it)

It said 70F at one point. You might even be able to make out the snow on the side of the road.

I never realized how nice of a view there is at the County building in Geneseo. You walk in the door and it's near a complete wall of windows on the opposite side overlooking Geneseo. Very pretty!

Also note the purple bandage on my arm. The nurses always make a big deal when I say I don't care what color it is. They say they'll use pink and I tell them that's fine, wouldn't be the first time. This time she said she'd use purple to match my shirt. Not *quite* sure it matches... (:

3 Days Grace - Riot

Like this one too...

Closing - lack of pizza buffet

Well, the closing went well.  Everyone got there on time, and it was pretty quick and painless.  So we've sold about 13 acres and still have a house with about 12 acres to sell.  That house part being the really crucial part.  We SOOO do not want to be trying to mow both houses.  I don't even want to think about spending a couple hours at our new house, then loading stuff up and spending another1.5 hours (round trip) on the road, Then another 3-6 hours mowing over there, let alone all the gas for the mowers and the car to transport the mower...  SELL THE HOUSE!!!  (:

And of course, It has been a while since I"ve seen the pizza/pasta buffet sign where I was hoping it was.  So it was simply a soup and salad bar.  Bah, hardly worth it.  So we had some Mozzy sticks, and I got a ranch chicken sub.  Quite good, but I think the usual chicken wing sub still has it beat.  And then we had a piece of chocolate cream pie.  It looked like one of those frozen ones from the store (probably was) but it was room temperature and actually tasted quite good.

And today is Friday...
Cleaned up about all the garbage and recyclables I saw lying around(though I may have missed some under the sink).  Dropped off the garbage and at lunch I'll take care of the carload of cardboard and other recyclables and maybe stop by to drop off the returnable cans/bottles...

And then tonight is my sister's Birthday party at my parents.  Should be fun.  We get to heckle the new boyfriend!  (:

Interesting animals I couldn't get pics of

Couple of interesting animals in the last couple days I couldn't get pics of.

When we came home around 9pm from Mom's Birthday Tues night we were making the turn in the driveway to the garage and Sara said "What's that?"  I said "owl".  We both kinda thought it must be a dog or cat or something...  I aimed the headlights over it.  Sure enough we had an owl just sitting out in the middle of our yard.  He flew off after a few seconds.  Cool.

And then this morning at about 5am I got out of my car in the parking lot in town to go to work and I look over and on the other side of the parking lot there's a half second of "oh hello kitty" and then I realize.  "That's not a cat".  "Hello skunk."  He was cute and just meandering his way along the snow drifts along the parking lot.

Today we hope to close on our 13acre parcel of land.  (Followed by my hope that a local restaurant closer to the old house (and where we're doing the closing) still has their Thursday night pizza and pasta buffet that I have yet to make it to!)  (:
Now if only we could get the house sold!!!  (Sara's doing her best to get on the realtor's butt now to get the freakin' ads in the paper...)

Mash-Ups

So I listen to the Daily Source Code on a daily basis. Adam Curry frequently features songs from Mashuptown.com I've liked the songs and finally grabbed their feed. They are just mashups of multiple songs into one. Some work better than others. Here's a couple of the more recent ones I enjoy.

Rock of Ages, Girl

Defleppardpyromania1983_2

What has nine arms and sucks?

...Def Leppard! Ah, an oldie but a goodie. Def Leppard was my favorite band at one time, when I was in Grade 3 or 4 and Hysteria was huge. Lots of home-made sharpie marker tattoos on the forearm with their excellent name font. But over the years I definitely moved on to other things - I can't even tell you the name of their next album. Well Aggro1 just did something great, taking Def Leppard’s arena rock monster “Rock of Ages” from their ten-armed days and fused it with Goose’s electro-pop goodness “Girl.” The result is pure, unadulterated fun like you had in elementary school. Party on.

Metallica is doing Electro-Pop now!!!

This here is the boot I listened the most the last weeks and days on my MP3-Player.
Divide & Kreate mixed up Metallica in the Electro-Pop Style.
The Bay Area Kings are meeting Coldpay in a Thin White Duke Remix and they sound so cool!
I never was a big fan of "Until It Sleeps", but here I love it.
THANKS D&K!!!

Rammstein - Amerika

Another song off that last modern rock station. We don't get much Rammstein over here in America. Interesting to hear a... German? band singing about America somewhat in English... (:

Top Gear Vs. Fifth Gear

OK, I was going to ask if there was anyone who thought Fifth gear was better than Top Gear.  However, I remembered again...  Tiff.  Fifth Gear is just a bit more...  "structured" I guess and less fun all the time compared to Top Gear.  However...  Tiff Needell is like my hero.  He looks like an awesome guy to hang out with and MAN can he drive!  Anything!  Sideways!!!  (:

Electric Six

Heard this song on a modern rock station:
http://www.polskastacja.pl/
I rather like it.

Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage

Crazed Levi

*As a fore-note, this is my first test of e-mailing an entry with a pic attached.  Wouldn't want to hold my breath on how well this works...  (:*

Two things.  Unrelated.

Had a nice dinner out with my parents for Mom's Birthday last night.  Mom and I shared a Lasagna pizza.  It was good, but...  Not quite as good as a regular pizza or  lasagna I think...

And here's a pic I took with my phone a couple months ago when I had a bit going on at work.  Just slightly crazed.  (:

Hmm...

Well, I have another main outlet but I figure maybe I'll try to put some more stuff in here...

Just found this:
Garfield without Garfield.  Quite an interesting comic...  (:
